Introducing the Pissarides Review into the Future of Work and Wellbeing

  • Nuffield Foundation 100 Saint John Street London, England, EC1M 4EH United Kingdom (map)

Automation technologies are transforming work, society and the economy in the UK in ways comparable to the Industrial Revolution. By mapping the economic landscape and labour market inequalities, The Pissarides Review into the Future of Work and Wellbeing will inform policy, practice and research that seeks to address disadvantage, mitigate risk and build resilience for vulnerable communities and groups.

This event marks the launch of The Pissarides Review into the Future of Work and Wellbeing, an Institute for the Future of Work research project led by Nobel Prize-winning economist Professor Sir Christopher Pissarides and funded by the Nuffield Foundation.

Focussing on implications of technological transformation for access to work, working conditions, worker health and worker wellbeing, a team of academics and policy professionals from the Institute, Imperial College and Warwick Business School will pilot a new, cross-disciplinary approach to evaluating disruption and reducing inequalities through better work.

At this launch event, Sir Christopher introduced early insights, based on a new review of relevant policy and evidence.
